Restorative Justice - Equity in the IC School District

Listen to an audio podcast of this program.

Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Johnson County

Brad Kelly, Restorative Justice Coordinator for the Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD), explains the district's pilot program in six schools and details the practices staff and students will develop for the pilot project.

League coordinators remind the public that restorative justice is not new. American Indigenous people used restorative justice to build community and keep everyone included. The term is used in the criminal justice system. Restorative Justice is used to create equitable environments to create inclusion, respect and build strategies for safe, strong communities.
