In this presentation sponsored by the Iowa City Human Rights Commission, Lisa Kim discusses some of the history and concerns of mental health issues relevant to LGBTQ+ people.
Lisa Kim is a licensed independent social worker in private practice. Originally from San Francisco, she graduated from San Francisco State University in 1992 with a BA in Psychology and minors in Human Sexuality Studies and Counseling. Lisa went on to attend the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration where she received a MA in Social Work in 1995. She relocated to Iowa City in 1998 to follow her then partner and ultimately went into private practice in 1999. The focus of her career has been threefold: specialties in adolescents and families, complex post trauma, and work within the LGBTQIA+ communities. As of July 2022, Lisa can be found practicing at Meadowlark Psychiatric Services in North Liberty.
